Wireless DVR: A Very Popular Tool Against Crime

Author: nathan February 27, 2010

wireless DVR

Over the last few months I have seen a steady rise in sales from my store of wireless DVR kits. DVR stands for digital video recorder. This wireless receiver allows you to record motion in either AVI or jpeg format to a SD card. These wireless DVR kits can accommodate up to 4 wireless cameras and you can mix and match ie 2 indoor cameras and 2 outdoor cameras or which ever your needs are. This makes this wireless technology both versatile and very affordable at the same time.

I have been fielding all sorts of questions, people are very happy to learn they can easily integrate the wireless DVR in to their preexisting wireless camera configuration. As long as your system matches the 2.4 Ghz DVR you can use it with any wireless camera in that same spectrum. You see it does not matter how many receivers you have, you can have one on each TV set, so adding a wireless DVR is no issue. Something to think about, a painless way to beef up your wireless security system.

Wireless IP Cameras Keep You In The Loop

Author: nathan February 17, 2010

wireless IP cameraWireless IP cameras have so many really great uses. The fact that they can be viewed from any PC and most smart phones, makes them very versatile. I have had all sorts of people apply wireless IP cameras for all sorts of situations every thing form video conferencing to farmers keeping an eye on there livestock in the barns. One really good feature is the fact that all the camera needs is AC power to operate, no other wires needed! The wireless IP cameras can be moved around should your needs change with great ease, again no wiring to have to relocate.

Wireless IP cameras  are really good for  surveillance as they stream live video and can send pictures through your email. Most outdoor wireless IP cameras are equipped with IR lights that allow them to see in the dark a great tool for crime prevention for either your home or office.  This style of camera is most likely the most versatile and cost effective security cameras system out there today.

Indoor wireless security cameras vs outdoor wireless security cameras, what you should know.

Author: nathan February 6, 2010

wireless security camerasWith wireless security cameras, one of the first things you should consider is where you need them to be set up. What I mean by this, do the wireless security cameras need to be indoors or outdoors? I have seen some people prop wireless cameras up in windows looking out side but this is not usually the best practice as things like motion detect may not function through the window. I have had customer tell me their cameras don’t work then when I find out they are inside looking through windows I ask them to test the camera outside and voila!

If you require outdoor surveillance, such as the car or your yard, you should in-fact purchase outdoor specific wireless cameras. They usually come equipped with led lights that allow them to see in the dark and the housing  is water proof and can handle the elements . Another issue I have seen is using the outdoor cameras inside, again looking out the window, at night you wont see any thing because the leds are reflecting off of the glass.  Never use an indoor wireless camera out side it will not last, if it gets rain on it chances are it will short out and then that’s good bye camera! You can however use a combination of indoor and outdoor cameras, should you need to watch both, just make sure that the cameras are on different frequencies!

A bit of information on the wireless DVR

Author: nathan February 4, 2010

wireless dvrThe wireless DVR (which stands for digital video recorder) is a low cost, yet effective tool in recording what is happening when you are away or sleeping.  Even  some of the basic models will record either in avi format (video) or take pictures in jpeg format. A 2Gig SD card will run for about a week (on the picture setting) It will also depend on how the  wireless DVR is set up such as sensitivity to motion and so on. The SD card, quite often will just record over it’s self (looping)  so you don’t have to mess with it once you have it set up the way you want.  The wireless DVR can be plugged into your TV for easy viewing using a RCA type cable. This unit is really simple to use and set up. It may take a bit of tweaking until you have it the way you want, you can run up to 4 wireless cameras on the DVR and have it auto switch between them so you can cover all 4 zones.  For the price it’s not a bad way to go. Should you have any question please just email them to me.

Wireless DVRs are great for securing remote locations

Author: nathan January 31, 2010

wireless DVRFrom time to time there are situations that require surveillance, yet it would be impractical to wire up a sting of cameras. Situations such as construction sites and homes that are being built. So often job sites become victims of thieves  looking for a quick easy target such as tools and quite often they will steal doors and even bathtubs right out of homes that are still under construction. This is a perfection situation for a wireless  DVR and some wireless cameras since as long as you have power you can mount the cameras any where to watch the job site at night. In the event anything goes missing you will now have recourse. This is a very affordable method to fight crime in a passive mannerism.

With wireless cameras you get what you pay for!

Author: nathan January 27, 2010

wireless CCD security camera with dvrsIf you are looking for a wireless camera solution for your home or office, it should be duly noted that when it comes to cameras you get what you pay for. These basically means if you go cheap you may be disappointed.  Not to say that there are some good value packages out here that provide decent wireless cameras for a good price, but I would be extremely weary as a consumer on any one that is promoting cheap wireless cameras because that more often than not is what they really are, CHEAP. I have tested many different types, brands and sizes and I have seen drastic difference in low end to even the middle of the road wireless cameras. Most cheap wireless cameras have poor picture quality some times to the point where you can’t even tell whats in the picture. Another thing to watch out for is any wireless cameras that are not at least 2.4 GHz, due to the nature of wireless camera technology you can get noise interference. It is much more apparent with the 1.2 GHz and even more so with the analogue 900 MHz and the range is much less as well. This is not to say that these types don’t have there place for some applications, my point here is to be informed and if you can, spend a bit more. This is for your own security so I would say it would be wise to investigate a bit before you buy.

Author: nathan January 25, 2010

I just bought a new Black Berry Bold 9700. It is the slickest phone that being said being on the G3 networks I can seamless view my wireless IP cameras virtually any where in the world. Between WiFi and the cellular network I can always check in on my property to see whats how things are going. My wireless IP cameras also informs me of any activity on the property by way of email. The camera will send photos of the activity right to my cell phone. This is super handy for security and also for safety. Talk about peace of mind

Wireless DVRS, a great way to secure you yard for low cost.

 wireless camera with wireless DVR

Of almost all of the home security measures you can employ. I can think of none that is more effective and less evasive then the use of a wireless camera security system. Alarm systems can’t see whats going on and dogs can be noisy among other issues. With a wireless DVR and a few wireless security cameras placed around your property, you can be sure if any thing should happen, you will have the evidence needed to catch the perps. The police just love having a nice picture of the perp they are looking for, this makes there job easier and better odds of catching the bad guy! This method of home security is probably the most cost effective method available today. Something to think about, maybe for your home or for a loved one. Why not a wireless DVR.
