Hidden Cameras Prove Useful in Stopping Crime
September 10, 2008
Whenever a facility is charged with caring for the very young, very old, or handicapped, there is the constant fear of abuse. But hidden cameras can make all the difference in either stemming your worries or stopping the abuse.
Such was the case with one Auburn facility that cared for both the mentally and physically handicapped. When allegations of abuse arose, the police responded by installing a hidden camera. Shortly after, the “nanny cam,” as it’s sometimes known, caught an employee abusing one of the facility’s members. The employee, Mark Orofino, was subsequently arrested and charged with assault among several other crimes.
Without the benefit of hidden camera surveillance, Orofino and others like him might never have faced justice.
